Homestyle Acoustic in 60 seconds

Artist Bio

Homestyle Acoustic Music by Kirk Wessler features well-known favorites from classic American singer-songwriters as well as thoughtful, original compositions.

Like taking a bite of your favorite childhood meal, Kirk’s popular renditions will transport you and remind you what it felt like to fall in love with music for the first time. How old were you when you first heard the voice of Elton John? Kirk will help you remember. Where were you the first time someone put on an Eagles record? Kirk will take you back there. Maybe you’ve never heard the music of Mary Chapin Carpenter. Kirk will introduce you to her. From Bob Seger to Chicago, from Harry Chapin to Creedence Clearwater Revival, Kirk will gently lead you on a musical journey that you will find both nostalgic and enlightening.

Kirk stays wonderfully true to the stylistic legacy of the great American singer-songwriters while still maintaining every ounce of his originality. His honest but playful songwriting will send you waves of peace, comfort and general good vibes, but on the crest of those waves rides something very important and integral to Kirk’s performances: conviction. Whether he is raising a banner for justice, professing his life-long love for his wife or singing a story inspired by Facebook, it is clear that every lyric stems directly from Kirk’s soul. His melodic choices and guitar accompaniment are thoughtful and convey a wide range and depth of emotion. The stories and invitations he shares through song are personal and relatable, and you will find yourself searching your heart as he sings about what is weighing on his own.

Kirk’s journey towards the stage began at the age of 12 when he purchased his first concert ticket and focused his eyes and ears on Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. Kirk reminisces about being raised on Beethoven and Broadway musicals, and boy, you can hear it in his voice. He is a performer that truly knows the value of the human voice as a musical instrument.

After 41 years as a nationally acclaimed newspaper journalist, Kirk left the business in 2018 and embarked on a reinvention adventure. The musical seed that was planted in Kirk as a child has blossomed into something beautifully unexpected. It has become the joy of Kirk’s life to plant seeds in the hearts of others that more beauty may blossom. He invites you to take this journey with him, step by step and hand in hand. There is a great harvest to be had!
